The government lawyer had demanded 17 years of jail for him. The case was going on for two years and ten months.
The trial over ‘Ndrangheta conspiracies has been going on since 2021 in a warehouse converted into a high-security courtroom in the town of Lamezia Terme in the southern Italian region of Calabria. The public prosecutor’s office sought a total of about 5,000 years in prison for the 322 defendants. The allegations ranged from drug trafficking and forming a mafia organization to money laundering, extortion and attempted murder.
