A misleading video from ARD causes outrage. Twitter account ÖRR Antisemitism Watch makes serious allegations. The YouTube post titled “Hamas is not Palestinian” has already been viewed more than 200,000 times.
At the very beginning of the article, a general amnesty is declared for the entire population of the Gaza Strip: Hamas cannot take their side. ARD does not describe the organization as terrorist in the article, but only refers to the classification by “the EU and other countries”.
Things are also embarrassing when it comes to cartography: Weltspiegel twice presented false Israeli maps, strongly reminiscent of the 1947 UN partition plan.
The article also does not mention that Israel is isolating the Gaza Strip for security reasons and that Hamas bears the main responsibility for the catastrophic supply of supplies to the population. EU-funded water pipes are turned into missiles by terrorists – but the viewer doesn’t know it.
The video ends with a claim that it is “unclear” how Palestinians feel about Hamas. A white lie: Multiple polls show that a clear majority of the population in the Gaza Strip supports Hamas. A poll conducted after October 7 also showed that 75 percent of Palestinians supported the Israelis’ terrorist massacre. (eXXpress report)
Now the ARD contribution is being criticized on Twitter. The Israeli Embassy in Germany draws a devastating conclusion: “It is sad when radio contributions are put to such useless use. The research was not even sufficient to produce an accurate map, the content is one-sided and the language poor. Matter of great shame!”
