“Christian did not take his own life. His life was taken away.” These words of Pilnacek’s widow Caroline List echo far beyond the church. By the end, Pilnacek believed that he would be able to prevail in the internal judicial dispute and refute the charges brought against him. List, herself president of the regional criminal court in Graz, did not say who had made the allegations – and who her own allegations were against, at least not verbatim. When “Presse” reported on the Requiem, green Justice Minister Alma Zadik was not present.
The report continues, the priest, a personal friend of Pilnasek, recalled that it was always important to Pilnasek that the criminal law should not have a life-destroying effect. The media were also warned to act in a more “humane” manner.
