Emergency reports explode in air traffic: How safe are flights anyway?

Previously, about 30 emergency reports via transponder from pilots per month were normal. This number almost tripled in 2022, following the introduction of mandatory vaccination against COVID-19 at many airlines. This year the number of such monthly reports increased to more than 140. What’s going on here?

As loyal readers of Report 24 will know, there has been a sharp increase in health emergencies affecting pilots over the past two years – including fatal heart attacks. However, new data now makes clear how much the risk has actually increased – after mandatory vaccination against Covid-19 was imposed with an experimental gene injection.

Transponder codes are primarily used to identify aircraft on primary radar. But it can also be used to communicate in emergencies – for example in the event of radio failure. For example, 7,500 in the event of a hijacking, 7,600 in the event of radio failure, or 7,700 in the event of a serious air emergency. And it is transponder code 7700 that is now attracting the attention of observers. Of course, it is unclear to what extent these reports may have become more reliably recorded over time. This increase would not only be related to the demise of pilots or flight attendants, especially since medical emergencies among passengers could also contribute. But since for some time only vaccinated people were allowed to travel, vaccination status could certainly play a role here as well. Overall, it is clear that flight safety has not markedly improved in recent years. The effect of the Covid vaccine still seems probable.
