A massive fire broke out in a Munich parking garage. It was powered by a Jaguar electric car connected to a charging station. The vehicle was completely destroyed in the fire and 29 other cars were significantly damaged. According to the police, the damage amounts to hundreds of thousands of euros.
The public underground car park provides space for 300 cars. The fire broke out in three areas, but fortunately vehicles in other areas remained safe. The Munich fire department was alerted by numerous calls and had the fire under control for hours before the smoke was cleared from the underground car park. The parking garage operator (37), a taxi operator, witnessed the incident. He talked about the sudden development of smoke.
Six people suffered minor injuries and one person had to be taken to a clinic for examination. Police have started investigation to clarify the exact cause of the fire. Despite significant material damage and injuries, there were no deaths.
