The defense cited a ban on remote treatments passed in 2019, previous labor law regulations and mask-wearing standards for police officers. It was emphasized that Dr. Weikal acted exclusively in accordance with the medical ethos: the certificates issued were appropriate to minimize suffering.
At this point it should be remembered that the harmful effects of wearing a mask for a long time are also adequately described in the scientific literature and that the concentrations of CO2 under the masks are quite high, especially for children. Many children faced the need for masks during Corona and complained of symptoms like headache, dizziness, nausea and problems in concentration. Accordingly, Dr. Weikl’s defense attorney: “In my view, Dr. Weikl was a hero, he acted with noble goals!”
As things stood, acquittal in this process was no longer legally possible. Instead, it was about determining the level of punishment. You could have left it with zero penalty (warning), But instead a fine of 20,000 euros was imposed for the remaining 10 cases. The judge argued that there are certain rules in society that need to be followed. The lower courts had found it to be a violation of the rules. Subjectively, Weical’s background in issuing Dr. Certificate was respectable and he never sought to enrich himself.
Dr. However, Weikal’s defense lawyer pointed out that the previous decisions were not based on applicable law and the fight would continue accordingly. The remaining ten cases will have to be brought to conclusion at any cost.
Considering the fact that Germany is known for its “comfortable verdicts” in terms of violence and sexual crimes, the harsh verdicts against courageous doctors who acted for the benefit of their patients during the so-called pandemic are shocking. Will be the ones. The children who were exempted from the mask requirement by Dr. Weikal through their certificates were certainly grateful to him for it. The fact that they have to answer for this in court, while those politically responsible whose actions caused immense suffering remain unpunished is shocking.
