After somewhat inconveniencing oligarchs and former prominent members of the FSB secret service, a former general of the Russian Air Force has now died under circumstances that are not yet entirely clear: Vladimir Sviridov (68) and his Wife Tatjana (72) has died. The couple’s home in the Russian Stavropol region was searched, according to Russian media reports.
However, the bodies of Vladimir and Tatjana Swirido were said to be badly decomposed by the time they were found. According to an official report, it was not immediately possible to determine what caused the death of the Russian Air Force commander and his wife. A preliminary investigation of the site where the bodies were discovered showed that no elevated levels of poisonous gas could be detected – so the Kremlin critic and his wife apparently did not die from the gas.
Sviridov resigned as commander in 2009 after publicly complaining several times about the poor training of Russian military pilots. According to reports, parts of the 6th Army of the Air and Air Defense Forces are also taking part in the war of aggression against Ukraine. However, Sviridov has not yet made any statements regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
And another event is causing a little excitement in the Russian Federation at the moment: Commander of the Russian Airborne Forces Mikhail Teplinsky in a video address spoke unusually frankly about Russian losses in the war in Ukraine. Several Ukrainian media outlets are unanimously reporting on Teplinsky’s “rebellion” and Russian Telegram channels are also reporting on the colonel general’s video message.
