After a hot summer, the desire to travel in autumn remains intact: With 22.5 million passengers from January to September 2023, Vienna Airport achieved 93.9 percent of the 2019 record. At 81.1 percent, aircraft utilization is also 3.6 percent higher than 2019 levels.
The course has been set for further development: construction preparations for the southern extension are already underway and construction of a third hotel is about to begin. The airport is committed to sustainability and is doubling its photovoltaic capacity to 45 hectares. Soon, about 100,000 solar panels will generate half of annual electricity consumption from solar energy.
From January to September 2023, passenger numbers at Vienna Airport will increase by 29.1 percent compared to last year to 22,495,652 passengers – about 94 percent of the pre-crisis level in 2019.
Flughafen Wien Group reported sales of 699.4 million euros in the third quarter of 2023 – an increase of 37.7 percent. Unless the crisis in the Middle East expands to a larger scale, more than 28.5 million passengers are expected today.
