In Spittal an der Dreu, 40 firefighters were called due to a false fire alarm on Sunday evening. Flames burst from the window of the apartment of a 24-year-old resident of a residential complex in the Carinthian city Syrian Was observed and emergency services informed. The Carinthia state police directorate said on Monday that they discovered that the migrant had been heating his apartment with a gas bottle, with flames about 20 centimeters high coming out of it.
The man was not aware of the danger, police said. There was no damage and no one was injured. Firefighters from Spittal an der Dreu, Seeboden and St. Peter were on duty.
