A Pole, 51, was sentenced to life in prison for the double murder at the Vienna Regional Criminal Court on Monday. The man was also admitted to the Forensic Medical Centre. The defendant is said to have brutally murdered a pharmacist and a young mother earlier in the year. According to a psychiatric report, the homeless man was considered healthy but is extremely dangerous due to a severe personality disorder.
The decision is not final. He filed a frivolous complaint and a criminal appeal. His severe personality disorder was considered a mitigating factor, but the two brutal crimes, his treacherous actions which were torturous for his victims, his use of weapons and his previous convictions were serious.
Pohl is accused of murdering a pharmacist (74) in Donaustadt on the night of January 1, 2023, and stabbing a mother of two (31) to death in Floridsdorf on the night of January 8. Like the pharmacist, the woman also died from multiple injuries.
