As the club said in a press release, after a long and thorough analysis, with a heavy heart they have taken the decision to part ways with Mader, who was responsible for promotion to the Bundesliga in 2022. “We have a lot to thank Markus for and he will always play a decisive role in the history of SC Austria Lustenau. However, the results and developments of the season so far have led us to take this step now. Because of its special character, this step was not easy for any of us at the club and we struggled a lot with ourselves,” explained board spokesman Bernd Bosch. He thanked Mader for his work and wished Mader the best of luck in his future endeavors.
Mader moved from Dornbirn to Lustenau in the summer of 2021, along with assistant coach Martin Schneider, who also had to leave the club. In his first season he won the championship title with Austria in the second division and celebrated their return to the Bundesliga. Last season they finished eighth. The club currently sits at the bottom of the table with just three points from 14 games, five points behind WSG Tirol.
