Euphoria in Vienna-Floridsdorf: Horrified witnesses alerted police as a man was said to have attacked several people with a knife on the street. The intervening officers were immediately able to stop an Austrian national (61) who matched the description.
According to statements by a coffee house owner (34), the suspect had been in the café a short time earlier, was cursing wildly when entering the restaurant and suddenly pulled out a knife. The restaurant owner had to change his direction several times to avoid being hit by the knife. The accused also threatened to kill him. It is said that he then went towards the tram station and threatened other people with a knife.
In a bush near the stop, officers found a knife that matched the description given by witnesses. The suspect was provisionally arrested on suspicion of wanton endangerment. He did not confess during interrogation.
