The starting point is an assassination attempt five years ago in November in Hippgasse in Vienna-Ottkring. Early in the morning, a man was struck by a piece of equipment on the road and seriously injured. In this attack, his skull was fractured and he suffered severe brain injury and he barely survived.
The actual murderer was sentenced to life imprisonment for attempted murder. However, during the trial, he heavily convicted an alleged accomplice. He claimed that he was instigated by a Viennese. He paid her 10,000 euros for the contract killing. The alleged client was sentenced to eleven years in prison for his involvement in the crime, although he always protested his innocence.
Criminal defense lawyers Markus Januschke and Michael Dohr managed to collect new exculpatory evidence in their client’s favor. They were recognized and accepted as new evidence. On this basis, permission was given to restart the proceedings.
From Monday, a new trial against Viennese is due to take place under the direction of Judge Andreas Böhm. The two defense lawyers, Januschke and Dohar, are confident that they can get their client acquitted.
