“Perfect move! Now it’s Andy Babler’s time as chancellor. Time to make policy from the heart,” a user on. The following goals are formulated in the application on the asylum issue:
• Reduce irregular arrivals and eliminate deaths
• Reach an agreement based on solidarity and EU law
• Create legal loopholes and eliminate illegal loopholes
• Efficient and standardized asylum processes
• European Maritime Rescue Mission and
• Negotiating return agreements with countries of origin and transit while respecting fundamental and human rights.
Negotiations on repatriation agreements have been going on for years with fairly modest success, so this is nothing new. Even under a SPO chancellor, African nations will no longer be enthusiastic about repatriating their former refugees. The third point “create legal escape routes” also irritates SPO sympathizers – the demand is not specified.
“I’m not really stupid, but what does this mean? Please provide specific nomenclature by SPO. Should this mean embassy asylum again? No problem for me, but please name it like that. Or does this mean you can apply for asylum in Tunisia and a water taxi will take you from Italy?” asks one user.
Despite the resolution being passed at the SPO federal party conference, the demand for a “European Maritime Rescue Mission” (arguably with financing from EU taxpayers) has also not been defined in much detail: should the EU intervene in North Africa? Should ships operate shuttle services between Italy and? And how does this future ferry service, sponsored by us taxpayers, fit in with the 850 million euros Brussels is spending on Frontex, the EU border security organisation? Possible future scenario: EU maritime rescue organization picks up and delivers as desired by the SPO, existing EU border protection organization intercepts and delivers back?
A skeptical SPO supporter still defends the approved proposal like this: “Have you ever read what the goal is? They want to make escape routes controllable, smugglers will only bring more illegals into the country and no longer Has no clue. This has to stop, these ‘submarines’ are a danger to the country and cannot legally be deported because their residency status is unknown. Why does everyone think, ‘we need more refugees’?
