The year 2023 is on domestic expansion. Many will remember this as the year when much of the mainstream media became a caustic climate Cassandra. Lake Neucidle should dry up, as well as Lake Garda and Lake Maggiore. But in “the hottest year in 125,000 years” (quote from ARD and ORF), things weren’t going to get any better for us humans: Due to the dramatic drought, climate alarmists saw us dying of thirst. One politician even said that the first desert would be built in the middle of Germany.
Nothing like that happened. All the predictions turned out to be baseless, some turned out to be outright lies. Lake Garda is not dry. TV reports about the “Viennese bathtub”, Lake Neusiedl, also drove tourists away unnecessarily – much to the chagrin of businesses there. These were particularly angered by a story on mandatory fee broadcaster ORF, after the broadcast of which upset holidaymakers canceled their planned stays. ORF later said that the contribution was definitely satire.
After all, a social media post by Green politician Katrin Göring-Eckhardt, Vice President of the German Bundestag, was not sarcastic, but completely serious. He sounded the alarm because desertification was already beginning in the middle of Germany due to man-made climate change. This meant the Liberos Desert – an old military training area that allegedly became desert not because of man-made climate change, but because of a fire in 1942 and the thousands of tanks roaming the area over the decades.
