“Kron” first reported about the horrific case at the “Haus des Lebens” hostel four weeks ago. A resident (92) was attacked and gagged in her room and then raped. After this heinous act, the initially unknown man also robbed one of the victims and ran away with the nursing home resident’s jewellery. The attack came to light when relatives became worried as they were no longer able to reach the elderly woman on the phone.
LKA has now identified the suspected culprit. Forensic scientists were able to secure DNA traces at the crime scene, which now led to the hit in the database. The genetic fingerprint of an Algerian refugee was stored there.
The 23-year-old migrant was caught by police in Upper Austria. It is said that he was involved in several car break-ins there. He is in custody. He wishes that he could not remember anything about the attack in Vienna because he was drunk. The Algerian had applied for asylum just days before she was raped in the hostel. He submitted this after he was caught stealing in the federal capital.
