During Sunday’s 1–1 draw, fans in the stadium sang about the disasters at Hillsborough and Heysel. 39 people died at Heysel in 1985, and 97 Liverpool fans died as a result of the Hillsborough disaster in 1989.
The English Football Association FA had already condemned the chanting in a statement on Monday and Luton Town promised an investigation.
As part of measures announced at the start of the season to prevent this type of chanting, the Premier League announced a prevention and education program in schools from Monday. Anyone violating this may be banned from the stadium.
