Poland is serious! As President Andrzej Duda announced at a press conference in Zakopane on Wednesday, they want to apply for the 2026 Summer Olympics. But Poland will not be alone in the race for the post. Indonesia and Mexico have also already announced their applications to host the premier event in 13 years.
Poland hosted the European Games this summer with competitions in 29 sports or disciplines. However, the Eastern Europeans have never hosted the Olympics. In any case, the venues for the upcoming Summer Olympics have already been determined. Paris will be the host next year. Four years later, Los Angeles would host the Summer Olympics. It will be Brisbane’s turn in 2032.
The next Winter Olympics will take place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo in 2026. However, the hosting of the 2030 Winter Games has not yet been determined. International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach announced in December 2018 that Japan, Sapporo, the United States, Argentina, Spain and Georgia had expressed interest in hosting the event. Carinthia and Slovenia are planning to apply for 2036.
