“Heimat Herbst” opens next Sunday at the Hartberg Oktoberfest with a performance by Herbert Kickl. The large-scale campaign is expected to last until November and will include pro-liberal events across the country. It will not only be about politics but also about cultural, traditional and customs events. Folk musicians, craftsmen and even farmers will be there.
Personal contact with the population is especially important for FPOs. Kikal insisted: “We are going where others have not dared to go for a long time.” He expects an exciting political autumn – regardless of the election date.
Kickal still clings to the image of the incoming “People’s Chancellor”. He believes that the FPÖ will be the strongest party, far ahead of the second-placed party. In his opinion, this would be the path to a “renaissance of common sense and normality” in the country. At the same time, he criticizes the “power-hungry” ÖVP and “Marxists” of the SPÖ and sees himself as someone who wants to be “a good family man for this Austrian family”.
The “Confidence in Austria” campaign presented by the ÖVP the day before was also criticized. Schundlitz said, “Austrians believe in Austria anyway, but are no longer in this people’s party.” For this reason, FPO is now growing rapidly. There is a lot of nervousness among all other parties regarding “Kickal-FPO”. “We will neither be influenced by this nor deviate from our straight path,” says Schneidlitz.
