Elon Musk’s online platform organization CCDH reported 300 racist and anti-Semitic posts from 100 accounts on X (formerly Twitter) in late August. According to a report by CCDH (Center for Countering Digital Hate) published on Wednesday, a week later, 259 posts were still available and 90 accounts were still active.
Researchers reported that in addition to the posts, advertisements from other companies, including Apple and Disney, were also displayed. Musk and his appointed ex-boss, Linda Yaccarino, promise companies a safe environment for their advertising. After Musk purchased Twitter, many advertisers withdrew from the platform due to concerns about its image. Advertising revenue – X’s most important source of money – is only half what it was before the acquisition.
X denied, without providing further details, that the service had done nothing about irregular posts and that they reach large audiences. According to Musk’s ideas, there should be a lot of freedom of speech on X, but some contributions may have limited access.
