Spain’s Emma Igual and Canada’s Anthony Ignat lost their lives in the attack. Both were volunteers for the international aid organization “Road to Relief”, which works to aid civilians in crisis-hit areas of the Donbass and Kherson region. Emma Igual was also the director of the NGO.
The other two members of the Road to Relief group, Swedish Johan Thayer and German Ruben Mavik, were also injured. They are now in stable condition. He suffered serious injuries from shrapnel and burn injuries.
The group was traveling by car to Bakhmut to help civilians in the town of Ivanivske, which had been caught in the crossfire.
