In June, Nathan Van Hooydonck helped Tour de France winner Jonas Vinggaard. But now the professional cyclist has been seriously injured in a traffic accident in his native Belgium. Van Hooydonck, 27, had to be resuscitated on Tuesday, according to media reports quoting police. After this the Belgian was taken to the hospital conscious. The accident occurred in Kalmthout, north of Antwerp.
Van Hooydonck’s team Jumbo-Visma confirmed the accident. The team said that he was feeling uncomfortable while driving, due to which he met with the accident. “We cannot confirm rumors that his condition is serious,” the racing team said. Van Hooydonck must undergo further medical examinations.
