For many Austrians, what happened in the Techtmeister case in the Austrian judiciary and some media was absolutely unbelievable: a former actor has been collecting 76,000 files from sexually abused and raped children and youth since 2008 – that is, for 15 years. And has been promoting them for a long time, he has been in the disgusting industry of filming child sex in some slums for a decade and gets away with a few scoldings from a judge and a suspended sentence and some conditions. How many children’s souls have been destroyed because of the accused’s obscene consumption? Obviously it doesn’t matter. Is there a child porn network – as revealed by 1400 chats? Obviously it doesn’t matter. Can the accused already sit in complete unrestrained freedom in front of a children’s playground or kindergarten? Obviously it doesn’t matter.
His lawyers and other “experts” state in some media that “harsh sentences will not help” and that the criminal should be treated but allowed to remain free. The height of monstrosity was then presented by a left-leaning newspaper with the insane thesis that child protection is right-wing – as if Social Democrats, Greens or Communists had no children who wanted to be protected from perverted sex offenders.
Many Austrians are fed up with this effort to protect against criminals.
After numerous letters from readers, eXXpress is now responding with a huge petition on this appalling legal situation that helps criminals but keeps putting our children in danger: The Greens still jail collectors for files Has not given his consent to make the punishment legally stricter. The decision regarding sexually abused children can be taken in the Parliament. Green Justice Minister Alma Zadik could have presented this amendment to the National Council for a vote in June – but she did not.
Now we can all work together to increase pressure on the politicians in the federal government who are blocking toughening of sentences and who, understandably, want to continue helping criminals: to reform child protection. Sign the big eXXpress petition here and together we will help make it happen, blockers and blockers of vital legislation are forced to act with thousands of signatures – join, sign and please support this important, absolutely non-partisan initiative.
