,Despite beneficial vaccinations, sick leave cases and sick days exploded in Austria in 2022. It is surprising that something dramatic would have happened between the initial report published in March and the figures now published in Statistics Austria, with suddenly millions of cases and days missing. Therefore the situation may be more dramatic than known. This is also indicated by the reports of companies, especially hospitals.
In March 2023, data from Germany and the United States clearly showed that many more people were sick in 2022 than in previous years (Record illness rates: Has corona policy destroyed public health? Worldwide in 2022 Absenteeism from work increased. This was notable in several ways: First, with the worst pandemic in living memory, one would have to assume there would be an increase in 2020 and 2021 as well. It is not like this anywhere. In fact, the numbers were declining. But in 2022, sick leave notifications and sick leave days exploded. For comparison and to introduce you to the topic, first look at the graphic of the Techniker-Krankenkasse in Germany:

This gives the impression that Statistics Austria has secretly, quietly published sick leave cases, sick leave days and related diagnoses. We are not aware of any particular media reaction to this – the last wave of reports in the Austrian newspaper One also took place in March. In March, figures from only one health insurance company, the Austrian health insurance company ÖGK, were published (see Sulzburger Nachrichten: The number of sick leaves is rising again in Austria). There are no exact figures, but the statements were clear: more than 6 million sick leave cases and 77.3 million sick leave days. APA was used as a source based on data from OGK.
In the official statistics for 2022 published through Statistics Austria, the figures for 2022 for all health insurance companies are much lower than in the above-mentioned publication of only one health insurance company.

The following data can be seen in the table below: reporting year, sick leave cases, sick leave days per case (on average), sick leave days per employee (on average). This results in a mathematically total of 53,699,775 days of sick leave in 2022. This compares to the March 2023 numbers cited above from just one health insurance company: 77,300,000 days of sick leave.

There is a huge gap between March’s figures and today’s figures, equivalent to 23 million days of sick leave and March data from other health insurance companies is missing. If you extrapolate, you can certainly assume that the figures in Austria would look harshly similar to those in Germany (in the graphic above) if you showed March figures. A press investigation by Report24 for Statistics Austria and the umbrella organization of social security institutions aims to clarify to what extent 23 million sick leave days (or more) could disappear within half a year.
In practice, it should be noted that all medium-sized companies and large companies that communicate with Report24 report an explosion in sick leave. Basically, all companies are desperately looking for workers. In the hospital sector, it can be seen that due to shortage of workers many beds are closed or entire wards have to be closed. Nobody talks about the background and our respected system media does not seem to be interested in clarifying things.
But if there was no increase in sick leave in 2020 and 2021, what could be the reasons why this happened in 2022? Also included are humorous texts such as:
Die salzburg news A sharp increase in sick leave cases was recently reported in Austria. Accordingly, the numbers were significantly lower in the Corona year and the years before that. About 5.1 million reported sick leave in 2019 and only 3.9 million in 2020. OGK attributes this significant growth mainly to the intense flu wave – which did not happen in the Corona years. And when it comes to the total number of sick days in recent years, 2022 is still well above previous years with 77.3 million days.

Those who believe in the Easter Bunny probably also believe that there was no flu in 2020 and 2021. More realistic is the fact that annual flu cases were relabeled as “Covid-19”, with inappropriate China tests. The following database also suggests this, namely division into diagnoses. Of all things, diagnoses in the field of diseases of the respiratory system will have declined in the post-pandemic years, only to explode completely in 2022 – to a number perhaps never seen before in Austria. The Statistics Austria table goes back to 2009; The previous high was reached in the severe flu year of 2018. And then came 2022. Basically, the diagnosis table shows that a significant increase in sick leave and sick leave days is almost entirely due to diseases of the respiratory system.

The assumption here is that the cause can be found in the weakening of the immune system due to experimental vaccines. There’s plenty of evidence and evidence for this, especially large-scale US studies: New study confirms: Boosted people are more likely to get Covid.
