Light sentence for the ex-Bergtheater actor – only two years in prison – like the whole crime story in the left-wing Viennese cultural and media elite, is still the talk of the day in Austria: Florian Techtmeister (43), despite years of collecting several Compatriots are outraged by the fact that 76,000 files of sexual abuse of children and youth do not have to spend a single day in prison.
Comparisons are often made to other verdicts: eight years in prison for former finance minister Karl-Heinz Graser (54) for “infidelity” in the Buvog trial, two and a half years in prison for ex-FPO politician Peter the future after a fraud trial. There is a heated debate between Eisenstadt and Bregenz over the proportionality of the decisions – Westenthaler or substitute prison sentences for those who refuse the ORF tax etc.
Now there is even more material to discuss in the case: Doubts are now emerging that Teichtmeister actually “used up to three grams of cocaine per day”, as his lawyer Rudolf Meyer said in court this week. This is significant because the 110 grams of cocaine seized from Teichtmeister two years ago has been declared as “personal use”.
But the fact remains: on all the websites of drug experts and drug authorities, one gram is already mentioned as a lethal dose – so Techtmeister would be taking three times the lethal dose through his nose every day.
The European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) reports on its website: “The estimated minimum lethal dose is 1.2 grams, but sensitive people have died from doses as low as 30 mg reaching the mucous membranes.” However, EMCDDA experts also admit: “Addicts can tolerate even up to five grams a day.”
Bonn University Hospital publishes: “It is difficult to determine the lethal dose. There is probably a high level of personal sensitivity. The estimated lethal dose for oral intake is one gram. For colds, 10 to 35 mg is a typical dose. Large doses may result in sudden death due to sudden heart failure or fatal cardiac arrhythmias. Therefore ten milligrams would be the “usual dose”. It is said that Teichtmeister drank 30 times as much Coke every day. That’s why he had 110 grams at home “for his own use” – and of course he didn’t sell or move anything. The justice system believed all this and did not even charge him with drug possession.
And another point is also being discussed on social media platforms and eXXpress readers’ forums: why was the TV commissioner’s former partner not questioned as a witness in the trial under the obligation to tell the truth? She exposed the whole matter as she filed a police report (for a different reason).
Has this woman really not noticed what Teachmeister has been collecting on her PC and cell phone since 2008? Did she really know nothing about the ex-boyfriend’s 1,400 sex chats with another pedophile? Did he never have any doubts? Does she really know nothing about the various pedophile exchanges or possible relationships and contacts with other actors or celebrities?
The fact that the judiciary did not even make an effort to obtain crucial information about the case from her former partner is likely to draw criticism for some time to come in any case.
The left-leaning Viennese cultural and media landscape would surely prefer to keep quiet about the shocking criminal case and trial. A supposed quality newspaper has already spread the word that it would be “right-wing” if it criticized the soft verdict. Even Teichtmeister’s small celebrity fan club probably won’t like the twist of this crazy theory.
