It provides for an agreement between UEFA and the European Club Association (ECA), which is valid until 2030 and was presented on Thursday. As stated in a press release, its aim is to “support the long-term sustainability and sustainable development of European club football”.
The changes will come into effect at the start of the 2024/25 season and will coincide with the reform of the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League. According to the new distribution key for the 2024 to 2027 cycle, seven percent of UEFA revenues from the three competitions will be distributed to clubs that do not participate in them. At present it is still four percent. According to the ECA, this means that almost twice as much money is available, i.e. 308 million euros instead of the previous 175 million euros.
