Last Saturday, a highly publicized rally took place in Germany to draw attention to the problem of pedophilia – child abuse. The rally took place in Langenlois, the hometown of Notorious T., who will be prosecuted in Vienna on Tuesday for possessing thousands of related images and videos. The rally in Langenlois was not only approved – local politicians apparently had a problem with protests against pedophilia. The headwind came not only from politics, especially from the Greens, but also from the Catholic Church. Parts of mainstream journalism, especially the tabloids (Austria: “Crazy protesters demand death of Teichtmeister”), placed the rally in the right-wing extremist corner – the usual surrogate action of people who otherwise wouldn’t know what to do. . Why this gives the impression of being on the side of child molesters is not clear. Because the Constitution and human rights protect not only physical integrity and self-determination, but also freedom of opinion and speech, as well as the right to assemble and demonstrate. It is well known that leftist politics has a problem with other beliefs.
Fact check also included fake news
It is interesting that the mainstream behaved moderately and almost decently for a long time, see NON “Langellois: Techtmeister demo was peaceful” and Meinkreis “”Techtmeister demo” passed through the streets of Langenlois”. However, for example, NÜN announced that it was incorrect information on Rutter’s part that ORF had not removed films containing the accused T. from the program. It is not clear why the medium had to come up with fake news, as almost every medium had reported that only a few weeks earlier ORF had shown a crime thriller with T in which he also played the role of a rapist. At the time, ORF justified itself with a “mistake” – but in practice it was different. It is especially embarrassing for journalists to conduct alleged fact-checking that is itself inaccurate or misleading.
Do not supply ammunition to the other side
From the point of view of the editors of Report24, one point of criticism is that the entire resistance would be well advised not to give any ammunition to the opposing side, which undoubtedly favors lies, injustice and all that is wrong in life. From a “hobbyist” perspective, hanging out with a gallows as a prop may represent a type of activism that makes you think – but it can also be seen as a death threat. Austria already has good laws on crimes against sexual self-determination and against the abuse of children and youth – this would be enough to remind the judiciary to use them and impose harsher penalties. It is legitimate to demand more severe punishment within the framework of the rule of law and human rights. We advise against misleading symbolism.
