These days a fierce legal battle is going on between the famous environmental organization Greenpeace and the European Union Commission. Greenpeace is fighting with all its might against nuclear power being promoted within the European Union. But this is exactly what Brussels wants to achieve, because nuclear power is “climate friendly”.
Now, of all things, the Commission is supported by the cross-border environmental movement “RePlanet”, made up of youth activists from all over Europe. “Replanet” advocates nuclear power. Why? Because it is CO2 free and can save the climate. She also shows a lack of understanding towards Greenpeace: while the world is literally burning, Greenpeace is fighting against clean, CO2-free nuclear power. Forbidden to “replanet”.
With their “Dear Greenpeace” campaign, climate activists from “Replanet” now want to be heard at the European Court of Justice as a stakeholder in the legal dispute between the European Union Commission and Greenpeace. In court they want expert opinion in favor of climate-friendly nuclear power.
To explain: Greenpeace has been fighting against nuclear power for decades. The group warns of the alleged unresolved question of accidents and radioactive waste repositories. However, facts collected by the UK non-profit project Our World in Data show that nuclear power is one of the safest energy technologies. The first repositories are already being created.
