Because the most relaxed driver goes crazy: In Switzerland – and soon also in Austria – climate activists are currently adopting a new strategy. “Sleepwalk Strategy”. Means: To march especially slowly on the roads, also known as going slow. A form of protest that aims to encourage the public to stop and think about the concerns of climate chaos.
Fifteen such marches have already been planned across Switzerland, according to the Renovate Switzerland website: “We will be back on the streets of Switzerland from 13 September. But there will be no blockade and no lathicharge, only a slow march!”
It remains to be seen whether Vienna’s motorists will take such a “sleepwalk” march calmly, or someone or something will be swept up in it. How the Viennese police proceed in cases of climate chaos is already well known – and from Monday it can even be seen in its own explanatory video.
