If you read the weather report there on the same day, the actual measured value was 10 to 15 degrees lower. In our opinion, the headline of expatriate magazine Cosmo was “Dangerous heat wave: 62 degrees in Vienna!” Killed the cosmic bird. Will anyone face criticism from fact checkers or even a ban on Facebook and other social media? Not at all, because fake news can’t be so absurd in the sense of the system, the journalistic crowd takes it for granted. Cosmo chose a ploy to extricate himself from the matter if necessary. You put the alleged temperature measurement in someone else’s mouth and quote them.
On 22 August, it was reported that “over the past few days” a temperature of 62 °C had been measured in the Naschmarkt in Vienna’s 6th district. “In the past few days” is an exceptionally precise definition, one might say with a smile. However, the measurement took place at 3 pm. Around 3 o’clock in the afternoon, it’s okay.
The measurement was carried out by a “citizens’ initiative Frerum Nashmarkt” using “infrared”. If you look for this citizens’ initiative, you will find this website with the Scientists for the Future logo. The group is led by Sabine Planck from BOKU Vienna, Tatjana Boczy from the University of Vienna and Jürgen Engstelner from BOKU Vienna. All connections to leftist media, SPO and Greens can be found on Google. Who would have thought.
The demands of the citizens’ initiative are not foolproof, it will take a lot of time. Because concrete areas in a city contribute to overheating, soil salinity in heavy rains is devastating, and in general a city with many green spaces and avenue trees is more livable. It’s essential to the desolate area of Nashmarkt – and obviously makes sense.
On the other hand, claiming a temperature of 62 °C (how much? The roof of a car? The surface of a road? The cooking pot of a Nassmark restaurant?) makes no sense. In this case, “the asphalt surface would be boiling”. Asphalt actually melts in the region of 160 degrees, which is the temperature at which it is laid – but you can’t ask “experts” and “journalists” to research that much.
“It will be a challenge for the elderly and small children to cross the square,” a spokesperson for the initiative told Cosmo. You know the dreadful challenge of crossing the street in Vienna in summer. An entirely new problem, apparently, is the equivalent of the first snowfall in the federal capital, which usually leads to major traffic chaos.
One thing is clear: such reports spread fear and panic and serve a scorched earth narrative that seeks order and globalism. Humanity can be saved only by giving most of the wealth to multi-billionaires and de-industrializing Western countries, so the mainstream myth goes. All media and journalists who publish such articles voluntarily participate in the scheme. The exciting thing is that the allies expect different behavior once the dictatorship is in place – they will soon see if this is indeed the case. Until then, you can pick up your grant from the wheelbarrow, you’ve clearly earned it through faithful service.
