The Austrian Guards battalion commander and army officer, now known throughout Europe as an excellent analyst, recently assessed the counteroffensive situation in Ukraine for the ZDF. Colonel Markus Reisner (45): “There’s a fierce battle going on right now around Robotine. Robotine is of particular importance as it is the location that effectively defines the end of the so-called battle outpost line. This means that the main positions of the Russian army fall behind this line of combat posts up to the village of Tokmak, which has been converted into a fortress.
If the village of Robotyn (population 480 in peacetime) was indeed captured by the Ukrainian army, it would be a tactical success.
However, the Austrian military expert says: “Of course, the fact is that historically, protracted offensive attacks with no concrete results are mostly stopped. And the question is whether this could now threaten Ukrainian aggression as well.
Because time is playing against Ukraine, according to Reisner: “Until the next rainy season, you only have a few weeks left, the next mud season comes – and then winter is just around the corner.”
Despite this difficult situation, the Ukrainian army can still achieve great success, says Colonel Reisner: “The history of war is full of examples where defeated armed forces achieved success that no one believed could happen. they are able. For example, it may happen that a breakthrough creates a momentum of its own. This could lead to a panic reaction in the Russian military, as happened in Kharkiv.
However, the Armed Forces Command of Ukraine must ensure that the army does not overdo it by deploying all its reserves in the last few days of the counteroffensive – as these reserves are exactly the forces it will need to reinforce. Go to winter and prepare for the next invasion.
