Customs officers made an expensive catch near Lustenau (Dornborn district): A Serb wanted to take a Lamborghini worth 357,000 euros from Switzerland to his country without registering the car at the customs office, the finance ministry said on Saturday. The Serb will now have to pay a total of 114,000 euros in duties – of which 35,000 euros are for customs duties and 79,000 euros for import sales tax.
It says that person can be fined up to a maximum of 228,000 euros. First, the officers of the Highway Police became aware of the Serbs. He then said he was taking two luxury cars – a Lamborghini Aventador 834 and a BMW – to Serbia for friends. Finally, Customs Mobile Control was called in for verification.
It was then learned that the person had not reported the cars to the customs office. After this they were seized. Eventually the BMW was handed back to him as no tax had to be paid for it.
