The Kitzbühler Hornbahn stopped shortly before 12 noon on Saturday due to a technical fault. Since it was not possible to continue the journey or run empty, 15 people had to walk out gondolas be recovered, said the Kitzbuehler Bergbahnen. It said, they were all safe. The rescue operation was successfully completed by 1.45 pm. The exact cause of the malfunction was initially unclear. According to those responsible, the system will be investigated.
The mountain railways assumed that operations would resume tomorrow, Sunday. The Kirchberg, Kitzbühel and Jochberg mountain rescue services, volunteer fire brigades and an emergency helicopter were deployed.
