There was a horrific mess on the S33 late Thursday evening: vehicle parts and broken glass were strewn everywhere for 250 meters on the expressway. After a driver drove in the wrong direction, two cars were badly damaged, eight other cars managed to avoid the collision, they were “only” touched by the wrong-way driver.
The drivers of the two damaged vehicles had to be freed by the Herzogenauberg and Trazmauer fire brigades with the help of hydraulic rescue equipment as they were trapped. After first aid at the accident site, he was taken to a nearby hospital. Where the driver drove the S33 in the wrong direction was not clear at first.
