In the battle for a place in the group stage, the men from Linz have home advantage against Zrinjski Mostar. The game in Linz follows next Thursday (24 August) (live at 9pm, ORF1), with the second leg on 31 August.
Zrinjski is the oldest existing club in Bosnia and was also the champion and cup winner last season with a 20 point lead. There will be an Austrian-Bosnian duel for the second time in the current season. In the second qualifying round of the Conference League, Wiener Austria, who have since been relegated, won 1–0 and 2–1 against Banja Luka.
Zrinski, where Krunoslav Rendulić is the coach, is the Austrian club’s first opponent in the European Cup. “There are no easy opponents at this level.
We want to take advantage of the opportunity and qualify for the group stage,” LASK trainer Thomas Segeder said after the draw. The winner of the duel advances to the Europa League group stage, with the loser continuing on to the Conference League group stage.
