“Non-Austrians are excluded”, “discrimination”, “racism” – the latest reviews of the Carinthian restaurant Pepino in Carinthia on TripAdvisor attract attention. According to criticism, operator Stefan Lercher, who recently announced he would no longer serve vegetarians, hippies, ecos and Arabs (eXXpress reported), only wants to serve Austrians in his restaurant. And they showed it today with their sign: “Today open only to Austrians” can be read on it.
Lercher himself is said to have had bad experiences with Arab families, as he insisted in January. They would put their children on the table with dirty shoes. When asked to take them down, he was told that the guest could buy the whole house if he wanted, explained the landlord.
Opinion is divided on social media about the host. Some praise the man for his “courage”, but most criticize him for his overt racism.
