The Green Camp appears to have morphed from an environmental-peace movement into a radical pro-war group. The results of a survey underline this impressively. While 52 percent of Germans oppose the delivery of Taurus air-launched cruise missiles to Ukraine, 36 percent are in favor.
he departs from the present ARD Germany Trends Outside.
Looking at those who sympathize with the different parties, the greatest agreement can be found among the Greens: 68 percent (!) are in favor of devolution, 23 percent against it. Supporters of the liberal ruling party FDP also have a majority of 56 percent in favor of the delivery, while the AfD (Alternative for Germany) has the lowest approval rate of 18 percent.
Voters from the central parties CDU/CSU and Chancellor Olaf Scholz’s party (SPD) are divided on the issue: among SPD supporters, 42 percent are in favor and 42 percent are against the delivery of cruise missiles. With which Ukraine claims that in its own statements it does not intend to attack targets on Russian territory. The CDU/CSU supporters camp is similarly divided: 45 percent in favor, 48 percent against.
Also interesting is the contrast between West and East Germany when it comes to “Taurus” deliveries to Ukraine. While 40 percent of West Germans are in favor of it, only 21 percent of East Germans are in favor of it.
If federal elections were held in Germany today, the central party CDU/CSU would be the strongest with 27 percent. The second would be AFD, it would come to 21 per cent. The Chancellor’s party SPD will be at number three with 17 percent. The Greens will drop to 14 percent, the FDP to seven, the Left to only four percent. he current gives ARD Germany Trends.
