Media around the world reported on the misfortune of the German politician: it was not the first time that the foreign minister’s visit failed due to the poor condition of the German government plane “Konrad Adenauer”. Instead of her already controversial trip to the Fiji Islands, 16,000 km away, Annalena Barbock only reached Abu Dhabi (UAE).
That’s why their government Airbus went on strike. The aircraft’s landing flaps could no longer be retracted and the accident occurred twice. 197,000 liters of aviation fuel had to be diverted to the UAE so that the “Federal Republic of Germany” machine could also return to the ground. Not a good record for a green minister.
“Adenauer” was previously considered out of date and unreliable. The Airbus, which entered service in 1999, has already caused problems on several occasions. But why did Bareback take him on his great journey at all? Right next to it stood a brand new Airbus A350 ready for flight for the Bundeswehr.
But the beautiful and modern aircraft was reserved – for the Federal Interior Minister Nancy Feser (SPD). He had first access because he is ahead of Barebach in the political hierarchy – the hierarchy of basic law. Number 8 Home Secretary, Number 9 Foreign Secretary. This ranking is also maintained by the readiness to fly of the Bundeswehr.
But: Interior Minister Feser didn’t take the new Airbus at all.
The minister, who is also responsible for sports, really wanted to fly to Australia and New Zealand for the Women’s World Cup. However, because the German team prematurely pulled out of the tournament, the flight was cancelled.
Therefore, there would have been no objection if the External Affairs Minister had taken the Bareback aircraft. Except, of course, the German jungle of paragraphs. This option failed because the service crew assigned to Bayerbock had not yet been trained on the new Airbus.
Minister’s breakdown plane remained, the result is known. And now social media users are already calling the German Foreign Office a “silly flight ministry”…
