As reported by the media, the Lightning Information Service recorded 25,289 times (!) Discharges in the Rhine-Main region. The rainfall was also considerable: between 50 and 60 liters per square meter of rain fell in Frankfurt in the evening – as much as it usually does in a month.
As a result, several basements were inundated in a short time, streets were flooded and trams had to be diverted for several hours. As shown in a video, water had also entered the South station and there was a lot of water flowing on the escalators.
