Has Oliver Bierhoff’s successor at the DFB already been decided? As “Münchner Abendzeitung” reports, Nadine Kessler is set to become the new managing director of the German Football Association. It is being told that the talks between the association and the former world footballer have advanced a lot. By now apparently the contracts have been drawn up. Kessler should therefore be responsible for the areas of the DFB Academy and the national teams.
In doing so, the DFB would take a radical approach to filling this position. Furthermore, current U20 coach Hannes Wolff is to become the new technical director. This was reported by “Frankfurter Rundschau”. According to the report, an official announcement regarding the former international’s replacement will be made in the coming weeks. The ex-European champion currently serves as Head of Department at UEFA, the European football association. This would make her the first woman to be responsible for both the women’s team and the senior national team under national coach Hansi Flick.
Kessler would inherit Wolf alongside Oliver Bierhoff. The former world-class striker had to step down after the humiliating World Cup defeat in Qatar. At the start of the year, Rudi Völler was presented as sporting director of the senior national team and the U21s. But the former national coach will step down after the domestic European Championship in 2024.
