He still had his entire career ahead of him. But now his very short life has come to a sad end. Ice hockey’s super talent Rodion Amirov passed away these days. He was only 21 years old. Toronto Maple Leafs NHL Club President Brendan Shanahan said: “It is incredibly sad to see a young man with such a bright future snatched from us. We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends!”
The ice hockey talent became the runner-up in the World Cup with the Russian U19 selection. In 2020, Amirov was selected 15th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Russian then got a two-year contract. But the left wing did not complete the deployment in the National Hockey League. In February 2022, Amirov was diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Amirov wanted to fight cancer and tried to keep a positive attitude. Eventually the disease proved to be a very formidable opponent. The Russian ice hockey player enjoyed intensive medical care. Nevertheless, Amirov died these days in a Munich clinic.
