The passenger plane took off from Miami for Santiago de Chile on Monday night around 10 pm. After about three hours, one of the three pilots went to the toilet – and fell unconscious there.
Flight 505’s flight attendant immediately began resuscitation, and the two pilots remaining in the cockpit decided to make an unscheduled landing in Panama. The Boeing 787 landed on the runway in Panama City 28 minutes early – too late: there was nothing more the worried rescue workers could do for the pilot. He still dies on the machine.
