It’s finally here! Harry Kane is on his way to Bayern with immediate effect. The German record champions have transferred 100 million euros in bonus payments and 20 million euros to Tottenham for the transfer of the star striker. Kane signed a four-year contract in Munich. According to information from “Bild”, Harry Kane is already in the Bayern team in the Supercup against RB Leipzig (today, Saturday at 8:45 pm, note).
Thomas Tuchel’s team completed another training session in the morning. Of course, the newcomer was there too. On Friday, Kane said in an interview with the club: “Yeah, of course I’ll go straight to the Supercup and hopefully play a bit. I spoke briefly with the coach but I’ll also meet him tomorrow morning with the team.”
In any case, the superstar’s time has been tumultuous. Kane landed at Oberpfaffenhofen airport on Friday around 7:07 p.m. At 7.49 pm the compulsory medical examination at the “Barmherzige Bruder” hospital was on the agenda. Two hours later, Ken Sabener Strauss arrived at the training ground. Around 2 a.m., the English raider signed his contract.
That was the end of poker weeks. Tottenham have rejected several offers from Bayern. In any case, Bayern’s first offer of 70 million euros was rejected. However, talks have continued diligently since then. According to a report in the British newspaper “Daily Mail”, FCB was also unable to persuade Tottenham with its second offer of 80 million euros plus bonus payments. But Bayern did not give up and increased its offer manifold.
Kane is by far the most expensive buy in the German Bundesliga. The previous record holder was Frenchman Lucas Hernandez, who was signed by FC Bayern from Atletico Madrid in 2019 for 80 million euros. The left-back was sold to Paris Saint-Germain this summer for around €50 million including bonuses.
A year after Robert Lewandowski left FC Barcelona, Bayern are finding a top scorer again. “World-class center forwards have always been a key factor when Bayern have celebrated their biggest title ever and we are confident that Harry Kane will continue this success story,” said Driessen.
“I am very pleased to now be a part of FC Bayern,” Kane said in a club statement. With the signing of Kane, Tuchel can also seal off a massive build-up in his squad. Kane is the all-time leading scorer in Three Lions history with 58 goals in 84 international matches. With 213 goals, he is behind only Alan Shearer (260) on the Premier League’s all-time top scorer list.
