In the municipal area of Prutz in Tyrol (Landeck district), an already heavily decomposed carcass of a wolf was found in the vicinity of the B 180 Reschenstraße on Friday. The dead animal was recovered and is now being taken to Innsbruck for examinations by the Austrian Agency for Health and Food Safety (AGES).
“It is unclear whether the exact cause of death can be determined,” the country said. According to the police, there was a properly reported wildlife accident in mid-May in which the animal involved was unknown and was not found . At the beginning of February, the DNA of a wolf was detected in a deer killed in the Serfaus municipality. The individual could also be identified here. It was a wolf recorded for the first time in Austria with the designation 194 MATK.
