The song is about self-love, feeling beautiful about who you are and eating disorders. Isn’t it difficult when you share something so personal as a couple?
We thought long and hard about which perspective we wanted to share and came to the conclusion that we both have a history of eating disorders. It quickly became clear that we wanted to look at our own body, but that it shouldn’t just be loving. We wanted to leave the text in limbo and bring in the ideal of beauty via social media, but that shouldn’t be difficult musically, but danceable. So it became a club track that falls out a bit. I’ve never texted with anyone, but we opened a document and each of us put phrases in it. At first each was supposed to have its block, but it blended nicely and it all became one. In the end it was easier than expected because there was such a clear overlap in content.
