With a narrow 7:6 decision in the Grieser municipal council, the fate of the Vennhäusl now seems sealed. The building was erected in the 1990s and expanded several times. The owner relies on an oral building permit from the then mayor. The case went through all instances, one is still pending.
The dispute over the Vennhäusl in Venntal in Gries am Brenner goes back 30 years. In the 1990s, the then mayor is said to have given verbal planning permission. As a result, the house was renovated and expanded several times. In 2011 Mayor Karl Mühlsteiger noticed that the original building permit was missing. He issued a demolition notice, which was fought by almost all instances. But the community got it right every time. The case is currently with the Administrative Court, but things don’t look good here either, the owner’s son admitted yesterday in the run-up to a special meeting of the Gries am Brenner municipal council . “Not legally possible,” explained BM Mühlsteiger. The vote was extremely narrow with 7:6 against the rededication. This should seal the fate of the Vennhäusl.Mayor: “Follow the rule of law” “You also have to follow the rule of law in Austria and, ultimately, court decisions must also be observed,” stressed Mühlsteiger. “Not the signal I had in mind,” LHStv said. Georg Dornauer (SP) and spoke of a “missed solution”.
