A suspicious letter filled with an unknown white powder was received at the constituency office of German Economics Minister Robert Habeck on Wednesday afternoon. An employee of the Green politician immediately brought the program to the police. This triggered a large-scale operation.
It was initially unclear what kind of powder it was. Because of the suspicious content, the police called the fire brigade for help. A laborious effort followed. Firefighters in special suits and respirators recovered the envelope. The area has been closed for safety reasons. According to the preliminary information, no one was injured. The operation lasted almost three hours. Investigations are ongoing. After an investigation, dangerous chemical and radioactive substances had been ruled out, a police spokeswoman said on Thursday night. It is assumed that it is fine sand. However, it is not yet clear whether the powder contains biological substances. The investigation was still ongoing, it said.
