The animal was trapped for several days. The owner finally called the fire department for help.
The Viennese cat “Rotschopf” crawled into a cavity on a flat roof in the Landstrasse district earlier this week. For two days, the owner tried to lure the animal out – without success, so that the woman finally called the fire brigade.
After several hours of work, the firefighters managed to free the cat on the roof in Erdberg. The animal was first located with a special gooseneck camera through a gap a few millimeters wide.

As it turned out, “Redhead” was in a narrow, covered concrete channel on the edge of the roof. The cat wasn’t trapped, but it’s unclear how the animal got there in the first place. Since there was no larger opening, a hole was chiseled into the concrete channel in consultation with the building management.
An electric percussion drill and an angle grinder were used to create an opening through which the owner lured the cat out with water and cat food. The animal was unharmed.
