It was the excitement about a month ago: Max Verstappen threatened to resign if there were no rule changes soon. Now Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali revealed that there was a discussion with the world champion before the Miami GP.
“There are no problems with Max,” Domenicali assures the Daily Mail. “I spoke to him about these things before the Miami Grand Prix. Sometimes it’s difficult to step out of your comfort zone. But you can’t lean back. He has assured me that he loves the sport and what he does. He is world champion and fighting for a third title. He was born in a car. I would say he will probably stay longer than me. That’s why it’s not a problem.” Is that really true? Sprint races bother The sprint races in particular are a thorn in the Dutchman’s side. The increasing number of races per season also annoyed the two-time world champion at the time. “It’s no fun more”, panted Verstappen at the time. “We already have 24 or 25 races anyway. If we add more things to that, it’s no longer worth it to me. I hope there won’t be too many changes. Otherwise I won’t be there longer,” was his threat.
