Host club Alianza FC have been forced to play behind closed doors for a year after the deadly stampede at a top division game in San Salvador. He was also fined $30,000.
The club has been blamed by the El Salvador Football Association for the crowd that claimed at least 12 lives and injured 500 at their home ground of Cuscatlan on Saturday. as fans tried to get into the more than 44,000-seat stadium. The association stated that the access controls were “obviously inadequate”.
